Players need to carefully plan what they're going to build and harvest, as Io lacks any kind of water. But, even though it is a desolate place, it has new valuable resources like basalt. One of the new features that comes with this DLC is the Infinite Map Challenge that allows players from the community to compete with each other by taking on various maps, each new one being more difficult than the previous.

One of the new factions that arrived with Offworld Trading Company: Jupiter's Forge Expansion Pack is The Penrose Collective. They are adaptable and influential and hellbent on conquering Io and thriving in their harsh environments. Their ability allows them to create 2 headquarters when the game starts and upgrade them at the same time.

Another new faction is The Diadem Trust, a cunning business group with epic visions and an attitude that does not tolerate others. All kinds of advanced buildings are at their disposal, including things like Patent Labs, Pleasure Domes, Hacker Arrays, and Optimization centers.
