The game was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive on June 21st, 2011.

The storyline from the sequel is continued in Cars 2: The Video Game and players have the option of playing as either Lightning McQueen or as Mater, or as one of some of the brand new characters that got introduced. Visit many kinds of terrific locations around the world and train your skills in the international training center that is known as CHROME (short for Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorized Espionage). Take on many kinds of different and challenging missions, compete with other cars to see who's the fastest racecar in the entire world, or test your abilities in adrenaline-pumping combat racing and battle arenas.
