The idea of flaws is new to The Outer Worlds. The flaws a hero has are what make them interesting. The Outer Worlds keeps track of how you play so it can figure out what you aren't very good at. Raptidons keep coming after you? Getting the Raptiphobia flaw hurts you when you face dangerous creatures, but it gives you an extra character perk right away. This optional way to play the game lets you create the kind of character you want as you explore Halcyon.

• Guide your friends

As you travel through the farthest colony, you will meet many interesting people who will want to join your crew. All of these companions have their own missions, goals, and ideals, and they all have unique skills. You can either help them reach their goals or use them to get what you want.

• Check out the company town

A corporate board owns and runs Halcyon, a colony at the edge of the galaxy. They are in charge of everything, except for the alien monsters that were left behind when the colony's two planets didn't turn out the way they were supposed to. Find your ship, put together your crew, and travel around Halcyon to visit settlements, space stations, and other interesting places.
