Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is the very first expansion pack for Final Fantasy XIV. It was developed and also published by Square Enix on June 23rd, 2015, and it was released for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. Naoki Yoshida was the director of this project, and Nobuo Uematsu, who hadn't worked on this MMORPG ever since 2010, made a comeback and joined forces with Masayoshi Soken to create the soundtrack for this expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward was released as a standalone expansion and it was a bundle that contained both A Realm Reborn and Heavensward. This expansion focuses on a long and intense conflict. Players get involved in a millennium-long conflict that is known to the world as the Dragonsong War. The forces of the Holy See of Ishgard are battling against the mighty dragon horde of Dravania. The players get involved in this war by seeking refuge in Ishgard after they were falsely accused by someone of murder. Things get complicated, and now you get involved in a gruesome and bloody war, so do your best to stop it if at all possible. Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward then goes down a storyline which reveals an old and dangerous conspiracy that has something to do with the origins of this brutal war.

This expansion pack brings various new areas for us to explore, it increases the level cap, adds three new exciting character classes for us to try, and even introduces a new playable race. Players also get to experience flying gameplay in this expansion by using various airships and even airborne mounts.
