The iconic Class 180 “Adelante” is now available for Train Simulator in her distinctive Grand Central Trains livery.

This five car multiple unit was designed and built by Alstom at Washwood Heath for the Great Western in 2000 and 2001 to increase traffic on the London Paddington - South Wales express link. The Class 180 is part of the Coradia 1000 family, along with the popular Class 175.

Nicknamed the 'Adelante' by First Group, the series had a rather checkered career, beginning with a delayed entry into service in the early 2000s and an early return to leasing company, Angel Trains, before a scheduled end of service in 2009 Gradually the trains were handed over to other railway companies, in 2012 five units were modernized and handed over to First Great Western.

Only 14 trains were ever built and today, despite their problematic reliability, they are in service on Grand Central Trains, First Great Western and Hull Trains. They can reach a top speed of 125 miles (201km/h). The built-in engine is a Cummings QSK19 diesel engine, which is also used in the Class 220 "Voyager". The Class 180 is also the only bullet train in the world to feature diesel-hydraulic power transmission.

For the Train Simulator, the Class 180 "Adelante" is available in the black Grand Central Trains livery. This model has features typical of British high speed trains such as a chime, opening coupler chambers, DRA, instrument lights, sun visor, headlights, speed warning system, brake indicators, DSD foot pedal and a working TMS.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, so you can run the Grand Central Class 180 'Adelante' on any quick drive enabled Train Simulator route, such as the routes on Steam. Also included are scenarios specific to the East Coast Main Line: London-Peterborough route (sold separately and required to play the scenarios).
