Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game in which you select all kinds of characters from the popular DC Universe and use various fighting styles, special attacks, and moves in one-on-one combat. Injustice: Gods Among Us doesn't feature a traditional combat design. There are no rounds in this fighting game, instead, each match has only one round and both players have two life bars. Combine light, medium, and heavy attacks in order to breach the defenses of your enemy and wipe the floor with them. A special character trait move is also available which showcases a unique ability of a character (Superman gets a short increase in power while Batman can summon a swarm of deadly robot bats to damage his opponent).

Bash Superman in his own home in the Fortress of Solitude, tear apart Batman in his famous Batcave, and so on. Players can use a heavy attack when their enemy is near a corner of the arena, which will then launch them through terrain which triggers a transition animation and takes the battle to a different section of the stage.
