The Isle is an open-world survival horror game with a grim tone. Explore enormous vistas of lush forest and open plains, as well as hazardous mountains and dark marshes filled with creatures. Ruins hidden therein provide insight into what came before. Keep in mind that there is just one goal: to survive.

There isn't much handholding or hidden agendas to change play styles or goals. You either kill or get killed. The only person you can rely on is yourself in the end. The islands and their people will alter dramatically as the game progresses, adapting as players discover how to prosper and survive. Your errors can kill you. There will be no survivors.

Gigantic, Prehistoric Multiplayer Mode

Embrace your inner beast. When you join The Isle, you can choose from hundreds of different creatures, ranging from tiny darting herbivores like Dryosaurus to bloodthirsty giants like T. Rex or Allosaurus (with many more to come!) You'll be the pinnacle of majestic, clever, and ferocious as a dinosaur. Use your inherent powers and senses to stay off the menu and grow into a stronger, more capable monster.

On servers with up to 100+ players, all of whom are as hungry and dangerous as you, interact with a living prehistoric ecosystem as either predator or prey. Forming packs/herds, building nests, defending your progeny, hunting, and claiming territory are all things you can do. A single blunder can mean your doom.

Pick between survival or sandboxing?

Survival is the basic game mode on The Isle, a tight and challenging experience in which you must develop quickly or perish young. Dinosaurs in Survival mode go through numerous stages of development, beginning small and helpless. To survive long enough to grow, become stronger, and unlock additional powers like nesting, use your scent ability, night vision, and wits. Not every creature is or will be playable in Survival due to the time required to construct a complete character life cycle, though more will be added in future releases.

However, there are also times when players don't want to struggle to survive or don't have the time needed to learn everything there is to know about a dinosaur's life. And that's perfectly fine. Sandbox mode allows users to play a broader roster of dinosaurs (and soon humans!) for a less intense experience. You can play as an adult super predator or a gentle giant right away, with no severe fines or consequences if you die. We are not going to pass judgment.

A Global Story told by the Community

The Isle has a story told entirely through the environment, which is only possible because of the players' incredible cooperation. Are you stranded somewhere? Can you get out of here? What exactly is AE? What brought the dinosaurs here? What is the sound that pierces the darkness?

It will take the entire community to solve these puzzles and understand the reason for their presence on The Isle, and each finding will directly impact the game's plot.
