Xbox One Controls For PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Revealed
For video games, there are a few standards that many feel are necessary to not just a good game, but a fun one. Mainly, there should be pleasing graphics (quality depending on the type of game and who’s making it), enjoyable gameplay (that keeps the players coming back for more), good music (who doesn’t like that?) and just as important, a good control scheme. Nothing dooms a game faster than a control scheme that is awkward and frustrating to use. Which brings us to the interesting situation with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
You see, the game is about to hit the Xbox One system via the Xbox One Game Preview service, but, since the game was built from the ground up for PC, many have wondered how the sometimes complex systems of the game would work on a more standard controller. Mainly, since the controller has less buttons/keys, how will it all be positioned? Well, now we know, and it’s via a great graphic.
In a post on the Xbox site, Mike Nelson of the Xbox Wire posted how this was indeed a challenge to get the buttons mapped, given the complicated systems, however, they, “believe they’ve found the right balance between giving players enough flexibility to survive in the hostile battleground and to effectively manage in-game equipment on the fly.”
Obviously, it’ll be up to players to determine just how well the gameplay works, and if it doesn’t, the developer will learn very soon. Interestingly enough, despite all the hard work that went into making this control scheme, there doesn’t appear to be an option to remake the controls in the player’s image. Of course, that could be a later feature, we’ll have to see.
Also, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is supposed to release in full this year, so the question remains, will it make it on time? Or will the Preview and Steam Early Access very be all players get?
