The beautiful thing about the world of video gaming is that people aren’t afraid to show their passion for things. Youtube and other sites have gamers showing their love of gaming, and whether it’s through playthroughs, demos, reviews, or what have you, it’s always interesting to see what gets made. But, there are a few things that stand out. For example, Honest Game Trailers by Smosh Games. These guys really bring the funny and the honesty, and they aren’t afraid to be brutal if it’s true. And now, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has gotten the honest trailer treatment.
We won’t spoil the whole thing for you, but needless to say, it’s incredibly on point with what both critics and players have been saying. Mainly, that the game has an incredibly powerful and deep story, with characters and cutscenes that leave you wanting to come back for more of it. Which, as the trailer notes, is something truly special.
But…it’s the gameplay that ironically stumbles here. The game has very repetitive levels, and the brutal difficulty of the game will be a turnoff for some. We’re pretty sure it was for the Smosh Games guys too, as they had to turn the difficulty WAY down apparently. Also as ironic, they noted that if the game kept its story, but added the fun gameplay of Doom, this might have been a major Game Of The Year contender.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus returns you to the body of BJ Blazkowicz, who isn’t as well off as you might think. But, the fight must go on, and with the Nazi’s having complete control over the United States, BJ must rally a resistance movement to try and take his homeland back. But, the Nazi’s aren’t going to give up without a fight, and they have plenty to fight with.
