Well, Discord now has a shop in which they sell video games, and it seems they also have an Early Access section themselves.
We covered the fact that Discord started selling video games. It was, well, quite a shock for us. Strange, that in these days when you have platforms like Steam and GOG someone would actually compete with them. Doesn’t that seem strange to you? But, what do we know? We aren’t the people that managed to create such a successful little empire like Discord that managed to topple Skype overnight. They probably know something that we don’t. That’s why they made an Early Access service for their own store. That’s right, Discord’s store also has Early Access games.
Seems odd, but ok. The titles though, are they any good? If you’re introducing a thing like this, it should some pretty good representation. Well, there are games here that are actually quite impressive. For example, there’s Kynseed, one very interesting little RPG that a couple of Fable devs are working on. Basically, people describe it as Stardew Valley meets the Sims, sprinkled with a bit of RPG on top of it. A title with a lot of potential.
On the completely other side of the spectrum, we have Visage, a surreal spine-chilling horror game. The utterly disturbing monsters, the haunting setting, the vivid graphics. Everything combines so nicely that it makes us think that Visage will be one of those horrors that we buy but never play much. Since it’s too scary and all. We aren’t even kidding, go watch the trailer and you will understand.
The other Early Access games on Discord aren’t anything special. But these two are pretty unique and of unique quality to stand as proud unfinished games. Let’s hope others great Early Access games like this get added to the store, like Slay the Spire for example. A brilliant roguelike card building game.
