Ni No Kuni is getting the movie treatment, but you won’t be getting a live action one, instead you’re getting an anime movie.
Those of you that are JRPG fans are familiar with the Ni No Kuni games, especially if you’ve played Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom which launched about a year or so ago. It was definitely one of the best games of this genre in a long time, since most JRPGs that end up on the PC aren’t all that good.
So, who is working on this anime movie and are they any good? That’s the real question, and judging from the official website, there is only so much you can do to translate all of that Japanese. Thankfully, Google Translate exists. Level-5 is the studio behind the movie, and Yoshiyuki Momose is directing it. He worked a bit with Studio Ghibli, which is promising, and he was also involved with both Ni No Kuni games.
They are joined by Joe Hisaishi, the man that created some of the most stunning musical compositions for cult classics like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. From what we gathered the Ni No Kuni movie will focus on a new story, rather than any of those told in the games, and the main character is voiced by Kento Yamazaki.
Will this movie end up being something good? Well, judging by the amount of talent that’s working on it, we would say yes, it will most likely be good. Then again, you never know with these anime movies, but we have our hopes up.
