Upcoming Sea of Thieves Update Will Make Crossplay Optional

It seems that some Sea of Thieves players didn’t like that crossplay was a must, and so that is getting changed.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves changed quite a lot since it first launched. For instance, it has a lot more content, which it was lacking at launch. Now that you have plenty of stuff to do in this pirate game, Xbox One players want to even the playing grounds. Since, you know, they aren’t too fond of getting killed by PC players that have mouse and keyboards. These give you more precision and speed, which is something the controller doesn’t, and that makes PvP a bit unfair.

That’s why an upcoming update is going to change that, as we found out in the latest Developer Update video. This is completely understandable, and it’s quite strange that the game didn’t have the option to disable crossplay way back when.

Players that commented on the Developer Update video don’t agree with this. They say this will further dilute the player pool, which is already small to begin with. On the other hand, we can also understand why Xbox One players would want to play with players that also use the controller. Those of you that use the Xbox One but are playing with a mouse and keyboard will get matched with PC player regardless.

We don’t know when this update is coming, but it should arrive to the game before the Arena PvP mode launches.
