Unlocking All Star Wars Battlefront II Content To Cost $2100?
Star Wars Battlefront II is just two days away from release, but things are continuing to boil over in regards to the decisions of EA and DICE (the developers and publisher of the game). First, as we reported earlier this week, there was a major backlash over the cost of Hero characters in the game. Thankfully, that got reduced. However, some fans have calculated how long it would take to unlock everything else in the game, and no matter what way you look at it, it’s a lot.
As noted on Resetra (which is having a field day with this), if you try and get all the cards in the game (including base cards and upgrades), it’ll cost you 155,520 crafting parts. To get these, you’ll need over 3000 lootcrates, which will take you 4,528 hours to do. For the record, if you played Battlefront II every day at all possible hours, that would take over a half of a year to get. Again, playing non-stop.
But wait, there’s more. If you try and buy the lootcrates (which is an option), it’s not much better. Rounding down to do some easy math, it’ll take you a minimum of $2100 to get all the crates so that you can unlock everything in the game. That’s an astonishing amount, and players aren’t happy. At all.
Now, as some on Resetra have noted, it’s not “required” to get all of these unlockables, but, you’d have to think that most would try, because if they don’t, they’ll be at a disadvantage. After all, these cards were put into the game to improve your characters, weapons, ships, etc. So NOT having them is a detriment to the gameplay in many ways.
But what’s ticking players off most is that it seems as though EA once again tried to pull a fast one in order to make players “earn” these items, not unlike what they did with the costs of the Hero characters. We’ll have to see if this gets reduced as well.
[…] but the “hype” around the game seems to be getting more and more negative. Yesterday, we reported about how it would take over half a year, or $2100, to unlock everything in the game, which made players very […]
