Uncharted’s Amy Hennig Getting Lifetime Achievement Award
In the game industry, there are many people who make the games that we play. Whole teams come together to make the experiences that help us enjoy video games as a whole. But, there are a few that help push things even further, help them push the teams to be even better, and those people are often honored for what they’ve done in the industry. GDC has announced the next recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award, and it’s going to be Amy Hennig.
That name will sound very familiar to Uncharted fans, as Amy Hennig was the director of the first three games, which helped establish Uncharted as not only a major PlayStation property, but as a true killer app. Hennig has worked on other titles as well after leaving Naughty Dog, and continues to help make games to this day. Which is why her getting this award is very deserving.
Here’s what GDC had to say about Hennig and her getting the award:
“Amy Hennig is a powerful figure in the game world; her work exemplifies what good game narrative can be, with pathos, humor, suspense and energy. She is truly one of the most influential developers in the games industry. These past accomplishments are just milestones in a career that we’ll be following for years to come, but for one night at the GDCAs, we’ll reflect on the hard work and artistry that makes game developers like Amy the heart of the industry.”
Hennig has been in the video game industry since 1989, and has worked with many companies and many big names, and she’ll be honored alongside great names like Hideo Kojima, Peter Molyneux, and Shigeru Miyamoto, all of whom have gotten this award from GDC.
