The Uncharted series is one that has captured the hearts and minds of a lot of gamers over the last decade or so. Starting out on the PS3, and being labeled “Dude Raider” at first by fans, the series soon captivated gamers with its great action scenes, great storylines, and surprisingly deep characters. For six games now (one spinoff and one PS Vita title along with the four core games), the titles have been doing well, and many even feel this could be one video game series that could work well as a film.
And that’s good, because it is getting one…of sorts. But it’s not going to star a grown Nathan Drake, rather, it’ll be an “origin story” of sorts starring Spider-Man actor Tom Holland. Many were disappointed by this, as many felt there was a perfect actor already set for the role…Nathan Fillion. Not only does he look like Drake, and kind of sound like Drake, but he clearly has the acting chops to pull this off. So, some fans decided to take matters into their own hands, and made a fan film starring him.
Now, usually fan films like this are something to be wary of, because fan films can get a little…iffy at times. But here? That’s not the case. In fact, not only do they have Fillion as Drake here, but they have other A-List talent filling out the supporting roles. Watch it and see if you can point them all out.
More importantly though, this feels like an Uncharted adventure, and Fillion definitely fulfills the role of Nathan Drake. It’s almost like he was born to play this character…you hear that Hollywood?
The best part about this film may just be that it ends on a cliffhanger. So go watch it, and if you like it, spread it around, may Hollywood will make a course correction.
