Ubisoft announced their new brand simply called “Ubisoft Originals” which will encompass any future titles they release.
Ubisoft Originals, that’s the name of titles released by Ubisoft in-house developers from now on. From the little information we have, it seems like just standard branding. However, it makes sense, considering that Ubisoft does have a lot of popular franchises made by their in-house studios:
- Assassin’s Creed
- Tom Clancy’s series
- Rayman
- Far Cry
- Watch Dogs
Is there something more to the Ubisoft Originals name? A plan to buy smaller studios that will make games for them? But those titles wouldn’t carry the Ubisoft Originals brand? Maybe that’s what’s going on. It’s all possible, but for now, a Ubisoft spokesperson reached out to Eurogamer to say: “Moving forward ‘The Ubisoft Original’ mention is attached to all of Ubisoft’s games created in-house by our talented developers.”, which doesn’t reveal much.
Yet, wouldn’t they use this branding before? I think there’s more going on behind the scenes. But knowing Ubisoft, we won’t get more information about their upcoming plans anytime. Perhaps they have some pleasant surprises in store for their fans. Everything’s possible these days.
What do you think? Is this as simple as it looks or is there something going on behind the scenes? Let me know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section down below!
