In a completely unexpected and random turn of events Ubisoft ends up announcing Avatars: Frontiers of Pandora and its release date.
Let’s face it, Ubisoft announcing a first-person Avatars game was completely random. All the people in the world combined couldn’t have expected this reveal. I mean, how many years passed since James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game? 12 years? That was also developed by a Ubisoft studio, but this Avatar is being made by Massive Entertainment. They’re the guys responsible for Far Cry 3, and The Division games. Check out the cinematic trailer below:
But a first-person action-adventure with a responsive world? Sounds absolutely fantastic. Since the Avatar world is perfect for this genre of games, they just have to avoid doing the Ubisoft thing. You know, making a to-do open-world game. It’s the type of game where 500 icons tell you to go here and there. Do these and those basic and completely boring activities. Oh, and be sure to capture outposts to reveal EVEN MORE icons! Some people enjoy these kinds of games, others don’t. Which type are you?
Can they do that? Or more importantly, can any game that has anything to do with Ubisoft ever skip their open-world formula? What do you think? Should we be hyped for Avatars: Frontiers of Pandora or do we wait for some gameplay?
