This War Of Mine Is Free On Steam For The Next Few Days
Video games often strive to be unique, but rarely ever do so. But then, when a game comes around that is so unique, so special, so different, you can’t help but take note of it. This is what happened when 11 Bit Studios released the game This War Of Mine. Unlike many wartime games, this title wasn’t about being a soldier in an attempt to stop a war or prevent the world from ending. Instead, you were put in the lives of civilians who were just trying to survive.
The game was very well received, and on Steam has over 35,000 “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews. Proving that both critics and players liked the bold take on the game. The next title from the developer is called Frostpunk, and will be arriving later this month. To celebrate, 11 bit Studios is giving you the chance to play This War Of Mine for free. It’s available for free from now until the 8th.
Why should you try it out though? Well, because it’s unlike anything you’ve played before. In This War of Mine, the country you are in is ravaged by war, and because of the outside world, you’re stuck. You cannot flee what’s happening, thus, you have to try and survive in it. Every “Day” in the game is split into two halves. In the daytime, you’ll fortify your shelter, make food, make your living quarters more habitable, and even search for supplies within your new home to see what you can do.
Then, at night, when the fighting dies down, you’ll search for more supplies and food, and face threats as you try and do so. You’ll manage a group of people and try to keep them feed and alive as you try and survive the war.
It’s not easy, and random events will force you to make hard decisions about what to do, and far you’ll go to survive. If that sounds like your kind of game, then you should head to Steam now.
