There’s A Fake Cuphead iOS App Available Now
It’s a sad part of the video game industry that not everything is legitimate. If there’s a way to make a “video game” and sell it before getting caught, or getting caught after making a profit, people will do it. This goes especially for Steam and mobile titles, for they can be worked in via the existing rules system and go live on the various stores before getting caught by the admins. Which, seems to be the case today with the fan-favorite game Cuphead.
For those who don’t recall, Cuphead was released on PC via Steam and the Xbox One as a console exclusive. In fact, the game itself is said to be a “Microsoft Exclusive” in full, meaning that it won’t show up on any other platforms. So, you can imagine people’s surprise when an iOS version of the game suddenly appeared on the App Store. As you can imagine, it’s fake. To prove it, the studio behind the game, Studio MDHR posted this on Twitter
There is a Cuphead imposter app on the iOS store — this is a scam. We are working on removing the fraudulent app ASAP!

Now, we’re not sure what would happen if you actually downloaded the app, but, it was a bit obvious that it was a scam, mainly because of their deal with Microsoft, there’s no way they’d betray them, as they’re part of the reason that Cuphead was so successful.
Furthermore, the site that was routed to the App Store page was a Hungarian site, which is odd as Studio MDHR is an American developer, so why is the App Store page set up from Hungary? Answer? It’s fake.
Hopefully, this app gets taken down very soon before too many people are scammed out of their money.
