The Outer Worlds is an RPG that everyone is excited to play, but it won’t be as grand in scope as we all thought it would.
We can’t imagine anyone that loved Fallout: New Vegas that didn’t start shaking with excitement when they first heard about The Outer Worlds. It’s being made by Obsidian Entertainment, one of the few developers in the industry that can still make interesting RPGs. Unfortunately, this interview also tells us that the game won’t be as huge as we all want it to be.
It seems that the size of The Outer Worlds is close to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, which is kind of a let down. That game was also amazing, but it could be completed in about 30 hours. That’s when we find out that this space adventure takes from 15 to 40 hours to complete.
That isn’t bad, but it isn’t the grand space RPG spectacle that we all wanted. Still, we all know that Obsidian Entertainment is going to bring a compact but immensely enjoyable RPG experience. The focus is on the replayability and reactivity, which is why the game isn’t as expansive as we thoughht it was. Nonetheless, if this title manages to turn a large profit, a sequel might happen. And a sequel may be the 100-hour game that we want from this developer.
Let’s just all wait for The Outer Worlds to release, and then we’ll complain about the length of it all when we play it. It’s going to be an awesome game no matter what, and that’s all that matters for now.
