Real martial arts action
This time we have real martial artists playing characters that are martial artists. It’s a bit confusing, but it boils down to this — the fight choreography is insane, each action scene just screams bloody murder. There’s one short part where Scorpion takes down some assassins. And he makes ripping them apart look e a s y.
Sub-Zero uses his ice powers in combination with his martial arts prowess so smoothly you’d think you’re watching a player playing the game, not actors doing action stunts. We also have Scorpion yelling “GET OVER HERE”. I mean, what more can a Mortal Kombat fan ask for?
The Mortal Kombat trailer shows a lot of bloody violence
Mortal Kombat is known for ripping hearts out, splitting people in half, freezing then shattering their bodies into a million tiny pieces. The entire franchise is solely based on graphic and violent executions. So, does the Mortal Kombat trailer do the games justice? Oh boy, it does more than you can imagine. I suggest checking out the trailer yourself.
The trailer set the bar high. Judging from what we’ve seen, this Mortal Kombat movie has the qualifications to be outstanding. But, it’s just a trailer, let’s not get our hopes up too high. We can get a little bit excited, as the ending shows a couple of fatalities. They show Kano ripping out someone’s heart and saying “Kano wins. You fucking beauty”, and if that doesn’t scream Mortal Kombat I don’t know what does.
