From the people that brought you, Sir, You Are Being Hunted, comes another terrifying and exciting game in which we will do a lot of running. Big Robot seems like its a company full of people that really understand psychological horror and how to instill a sense of dread in you.
We have a theory that Big Robot are actually a company filled with scary robots that are testing the human race with their games. Sir, You Are Being Hunted was a game that had its flaws, but at its core, it was utterly stressful and it made you feel like you got hunted by something. That sense of dread was wonderful, and from the looks of it, The Light Keeps Us Safe is going to make us feel uneasy as well. This type of “horror” games doesn’t need any monsters to keep you frightened, it just turns up the tension and watches you melt under it.
It seems like The Light Keeps Us Safe is a procedurally-generated apocalypse, which sounds both amazing and horrible. Imagine having a game like this where the terrain is always different and you can never learn about shortcuts and how to escape the deadly machines that patrol this abandoned planet. What even happened that made the sky go out?
Maybe we’re getting the answers to these questions later, or maybe we never find out. All in all, the teaser trailer for the game doesn’t tell us much, but it does make us excited to experience another scary title from Big Robot Games.
