If you thought that all Early Access titles are just cash-grabs, then you should take a look at The Forest, which released after four years in development. Four years in Early Access is quite a long time when you think about it, but thanks to the continued support from the players and the unyielding motivation of the developers, the game has finally launched as a finished product. This is definitely a cause for celebration, and if you don’t know what the game is about, there’s a new trailer for it that you can watch down below.
V1.0 of The Forest adds new stuff to the game, like a reworked endgame and a new alternate ending, a craftable warmsuit, lots of polishing, and more. The developers also said in their official announcement that they are going to support the game even post-launch. There’s even a treat for virtual reality fans, as there is going to be a VR version of The Forest, and it’s coming on May 22. It’s going to be free to all players that own the original game. Horror/survival titles work great in tandem with virtual reality, so this will definitely be a cool addition to the game.
It’s great to see a game that has been stuck in Early Access for so long emerging as a fully finished product, and The Forest looks like a spectacular horror/survival title that many are going to enjoy.
