The First Three Tomb Raider Titles Being Remastered on Steam

Realtech VR has announced that it will be releasing remastered version of the first three Tomb Raider games on Steam. These will be based on the mobile versions of the classic trilogy, and will feature a new 3D engine, will offer OpenVR support and will also be free to those who own these games.

Realtech VR stated that the remasters will need to purchase the DOS versions of the games, which are available on Steam, working in a similar fashion to ZDoom that’s used to play the Doom titles. At this moment in time, Tomb Raider 1 and 2 have been finished as PC versions, whilst the third entry is currently having a remaster worked on.

Meanwhile, the new 3D engine has been reconstructed for the OpenGL, and offers an improved looking post process such as ambient occlusion and shadow. There is also support for Windows 7 and Windows UWP, with the post effects able to be disabled and switch to the legacy texture packs if the mood takes you. What’s more, there is support for Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers, and are accompanied by both Unfinished Business and The Golden Mask DLC packs. Finally, there is also a number of bug fixes too.
