The Elder Scrolls Online Won’t Be Coming To Nintendo Switch

The Elder Scrolls franchise is one of the biggest and most popular RPG franchises in the world. Not only does it have a main RPG series, but a card game and an MMORPG under its banner. Bethesda and Zenimax have been very good about putting these titles everywhere that they can. Which brings up the question of the Nintendo Switch. The popular gaming console has been on fire since its release in 2017, so would Elder Scrolls VI or Elder Scrolls Online be coming to it soon?

Well, while Elder Scrolls VI is still up in the air for now, it appears that we have a definitive answer for the Elder Scrolls Online. For in an interview GameSpot, director Matt Firor spoke on this possibility:

“We have thought about Switch but ESO is an enormous game, and it just will not work,” Firor told the site. “I would love for it to because I love Switch. It is one of the largest games ever made, and it just will not fit on Switch.”

ESO

While this may sadden some fans, it honestly does make a lot of sense. First and foremost, as good as the Nintendo Switch is, it isn’t a mega powerhouse in terms of graphics and such like the Xbox One or PS4 is (both of which have ESO). But, there’s another issue, because it’s a portable console, and thus people could take the game with them anywhere they want, that would present a problem to a title in the MMORPG genre.

That actually is part of the reason why there’s only one MMO on the Switch right now, and that’s Dragon Quest XI, and that’s only in Japan.

But fans who want an Elder Scrolls experience on Switch shouldn’t be too made. Skyrim is on the system right now, and the Elder Scrolls Legends is being brought to the system as well.
