The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes Is Bringing Back Old-school RPGs
The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is another upcoming title that wishes to bring the old-school RPGs into modern times.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is around the corner. But, it isn’t the only old-school RPG in town. Have you heard of The Dark Eye? It’s a fantasy roleplaying setting that is quite popular in Germany. It has been popular for a lot of time actually. Some video games even used it for inspiration, and Book of Heroes is one of them, a title that’s really rocking the old-school RPGs vibe. The characters, the environments, the UI, it all looks all very 90s to me. That is a good thing for some, but maybe not for others. But, this is an isometric role-playing video game that is inspired by classics such as Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights. It certainly looks the part.
What does that mean? For the most part, it means that it’s going to be competing with Baldur’s Gate 3. Both Book of Heroes and Baldur’s Gate 3 are old-school RPGs, and both are using an incredibly popular D&D setting. However, one is made by an incredibly wealthy and capable studio and the other is made by a studio that hasn’t made any games before. Let’s hope both end up being good so we have a ton of awesome RPGs to enjoy!
If an old-school RPG is something you’re looking for, I’ve got some recommendations. Pillars of Eternity is the perfect title for you, and it’s available on HRK Game for an outstanding price!
