The announcement of the Project Scorpio console, which has now been revealed as the Xbox One X, raised many questions as to what could be expected of what was dubbed as the most powerful console ever made. Key questions primarily surrounded what tech would be included, as well as when a release date could be expected. But just as importantly, what about its value for money?
Confirmed to cost $499/£449, many believe that this is a steep amount for the new console, especially since there isn’t any new games coming out for it that won’t appear on Xbox One. However, given that its capable of 4K gaming and is built to rub shoulders with PC systems, then its worth taking a look at how much it would cost to build a gaming PC that has the same capabilities as the Xbox One X.
Thanks to Gamingbolt, we can take a closer look at what items that would be needed and how much they would cost, so head here for a more detailed look at each item. In a nutshell, you’re looking at a $70 gaming pro motherboard, a $110 processor, a $250 graphics card, $76 RAM, $49 for storage, $45 power supply, and a $25 case according to the list in the above link.
This totals up to $625, which is significantly more expensive than an Xbox One X. Sure, it might not experience as many restraints as the console, but its at least a clear showing that the Xbox One X is decent value for money.
