Telltale Games has released a number of popular series over recent year to become one of the most renowned studios in the industry. Releasing graphic adventures based on the likes of The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Minecraft: Story Mode and notable others, they’ve made a massive impact across a number of platforms including PC, consoles and mobile devices.
However, it appears that Telltale is reducing a quarter of its staff, which affects 90 individuals in the process. A statement from Telltale Games CEO Pete Hawley stated: “Our industry has shifted in tremendous ways over the past few years. The realities of the environment we face moving forward demand we evolve, as well, reorienting our organization with a focus on delivering fewer, better games with a smaller team.”
For the fans that might be worrying what this means regarding the upcoming releases of The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Game of Thrones, these should not be affected. The reason behind the reductions has yet to be confirmed fully, though thanks to a hashtag of #TelltaleJobs trending on Twitter, there has been an outpour of support for the team, who have been offered positions from the likes of Ubisoft, Gearbox Software, Respawn and Ghost Story light of the news.
Of course, it’s sad news for those affected, but great to see other studios coming in to help out.
