Tekken X Street Fighter Still Coming?
Gaming collaborations and crossovers are nothing new in the world of gaming, and in fact, they happen more often now than they ever have before. Fighting games are one genre that seem to excel when it comes to crossovers, as it’s easy to meld worlds together within the basics of a fighting game system. To that end, Bandai Namco and Capcom worked together to bring their two fighting franchises together in the form of two titles. Street Fighter X Tekken, and Tekken X Street Fighter.
Also if you recall, the first of the two titles already released, putting the Tekken characters in a more Street Fighter-esque setting and storyline. Then, Tekken X Street Fighter was supposed to bring the Street Fighter crew into the Tekken world for a more grounded fighting title. But it never happened, and given that it’s been years since the last true update about the game, many wonder if it’s ever going to happen.
During a party, one of the team members, Katsuhiro Harada, said that the game was still around, but, that it was only at 30% completion. Which for a fighting game honestly isn’t that far, which goes to show that there is a lot of work to be done still.
But, him saying that the game isn’t scrapped is progress. Plus, both teams have been working on balancing and adding DLC fighters to the newest titles for their franchises. Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 have both done well critically and sales wise, so it’s natural that they needed to focus on them first. But now that both seem to be winding down in terms of DLC, Now may be the perfect time to go back to the crossover.
Whether they actually do that though is totally up for debate, only time will tell what happens.
