Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced today further details regarding the Tekken World Tour Finals tournament. Presented by Nissin Cup Noodles, the event will take place outside of Japan for the first time in the franchise’s over two-decade history. This year, on November 12th, the championship will take place at Metreon in San Francisco, California, where an all-day battle royale will get underway to determine a new Tekken World Champion.
Bandai Namco franchise director Katsuhiro Harada commented: “TEKKEN 7 has brought many new experiences to our fans and having the TEKKEN World Finals take place outside of Japan is the latest experience we want to give them.To see TEKKEN 7 met with such enthusiasm and have so many skilled competitors emerge around the globe makes the long hours and hard work the TEKKEN team put into the game well worth our blood, sweat, and tears.”
The action begins at 12pm PST with first double elimination rounds kicking things off. The top 16 seeded players from the Americas, Europe and Asia will go head-to-head until two players emerge victorious for the final. What’s more, Harada and senior Designer Michael Murray will be in attendance to meet fans and crown the new Tekken Champion. The winner will also receive a prize purse of $50,000, not to mention the bragging rights that go with it.
