Tekken 7 On Switch Is “Up To The Fans”
2017 was a great year for many games and franchises. But one of the biggest ones that got a boost in 2017 was without a doubt the Tekken line. For Tekken 7 was not only one of the most successful games of the year, it was a title that was universally praised for its content, great gameplay, amazing visuals, and more. Many thought it was the fighting game of the year, and yet, there seemed to be a small omission in it, it wasn’t on the Nintendo Switch.
While this could easily be explained by how the Switch was only opened to developers in a recent timeframe, long after work on Tekken 7 had started, it’s now been over 18 months since the games release, and no doubt a port could’ve been made in that time. Plus, with the Switch’s success, there’s no doubt in some people’s minds that it could do very well on the console if ported well.
In an end-of-the-year party, the head of the Tekken line, Katsuhiro Harada was asked about whether the game would come to the Switch. He reiterated that in order for the port to happen, there has to be fan demand. So if you’re wanting Tekken 7 on Switch, you need to ask for it, and ask for it loudly.
This isn’t too far from what other developers are asking for in regards to Switch ports, they want to know that they’ll make money off of the porting instead of just doing it because a few gamers want it, which is fair when you think about it.
The game itself has been doing well far after launch, including now revealing their full Season 2 lineup, and giving a deep gameplay trailer for the one and only Negan. Regardless of whether it comes to Switch or not, players have a lot to look forward to.
