According to recent reports, Overwatch legends Team EnVyUs could be the next team to be announced for the Overwatch League.
The team are apparently set to represent the Austin and Dallas regions of Texas, which would see them moving from their current base in Charlotte, North Carolina. The finances behind the deal are yet to be finalized with a family office in Texas, but the buy-in required is $20 million in order to join the Overwatch League.
Team EnVyUs are one of the most successful teams in the entirety of eSports teams in Overwatch, so it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise to see them making an appearance, following championship wins at Overwatch APEX Season 1 and MLG Las Vegas 2016, so taking part in the highly anticipated Overwatch League is surely a must for them. It does seem strange that a normal eSports team would enter into something that would be answering to Activision Blizzard, but if that’s the price to pay to be a part of the league, then it should definitely be worth looking into for them.
Either way, we should hear soon as to whether or not one of the biggest teams in the eSports scene will be joining the league.
