RimWorld looks like a sci-fi version of Dwarf Fortress that is much easier to understand but is equally as engaging and complex.
Oh, you thought managing your own prison in Prison Architect was hard? Try keeping tabs on an entire colony that is depending on you to keep it alive and well-fed. Those of you that are familiar with a game called Dwarf Fortress should know what we’re talking about, as RimWorld was inspired by that particular title. Building a new colony in the future is easy at the start, as you have only three survivors to take care of. But, later down the line, you have over 10,000 people to take care of, and alien beasts are attacking.
The game best describes itself on its Steam page as a story generator. After all, this is a game that simulates everything from climate, diplomacy, both ranged and melee combat, ecology, and more. RimWorld is basically a simulator that you want to play if you’re looking for all the details in your simulation games. It has everything for you to worry about, but it makes it all so captivating. Once you start picking up how things work, there is no stopping. You’re in for a crazy time that only ends once your colony meets its demise.
There aren’t many titles on Steam with overwhelmingly positive user reviews, but this is one of them. Just a few days ago RimWorld officially launched with version 1.0, so if you were avoiding this one because it was an Early Access title, check it out now. This is one of those games that pulls you into its extremely detailed world where you can tinker with just about anything.
What are you waiting for? Go and watch the launch trailer. If that doesn’t convince you to buy this game, nothing will.
