The System Shock remake devs decided to release 7 minutes of raw gameplay under the guise of a “teaser trailer”.
Mutants, cyborgs, an old-new UI (that’s quite stylish in my opinion), retro sci-fi environments, and a moody atmospheric soundtrack. The System Shock remake shows a lot in its teaser trailer. No ambiguous cinematics or pre-rendered stuff, just someone playing the game, doing some mini-games, shooting menacing giant robots, and looting some containers.
It’s standard immersive sim gameplay, and Nightdive Studios are walking a fine line between looking retro and looking modern. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the game looks pretty as hell. They definitely nailed the visuals.
Even the sound effects appear like something out of an 80s sci-fi movie. Super fitting for a System Shock game. Check out the super long teaser for yourself down below:
The devs even listened to previous player feedback and made some improvements. There’s a ton of new colors so the environments don’t look as bland, the patch animations got sped up, and there’s the aforementioned ambient soundtrack. They’re making some nice progress, wouldn’t you say?
