Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) has had its ups and downs, but it is still one of those firm western MMORPGs that players keep returning to. We’ve decided to jump back into the game and see how it’s doing right now.
A Star Wars MMORPG evidently gets a lot of pressure due to the high expectations of fans, and in the past, it sometimes felt like Star Wars: The Old Republic was lacking many things that such game would need to keep up its popularity. Getting back into the MMORPG after a year’s break, it did feel like SWTOR was somewhat improving once again. The leveling is still a relatively exciting element of the game, since there are so many ways one can accomplish it. The slightly improved skill animations also added a lot, although it still sometimes feel like we are not even landing hits with the melee classes.
Character looks are still slightly off, or at least, they don’t really seem to match the whole Star Wars universe. Armor looks also could use some tweaking still, although you can bump into quite a few pleasing outfits. The stronger servers are still well populated and you will have no trouble in queuing up for PvP or PvE content. Level boosts can be purchased from the in-game store to 60 or 65, which some might consider slightly P2W, but you still have to do the last five levels. This should not take longer than a few hours. The storyline behind the current content seems satisfying and solid, and it is highly recommended to watch those cutscenes so that you actually understand what you are fighting for.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is still a great MMORPG to play, and let’s face it, many gamers constantly search for an MMO that they can stick to, and SWTOR is one of the better choices.
