Super Smash Bros Ultimate Coming December 7th To Switch
One of the big things going into E3 2018 was the question about what Nintendo would show not just in terms of games, but in terms of Smash Bros. The latest title in the fan-favorite fighting game series was teased for the Switch earlier in the year, and we knew it would be playable in some form at E3, but the question remained, just how much would they show? The answer was just about everything, and the game is going to be called Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
The game was unveiled and broken down in a massive 25-minute segment at the Nintendo E3 Digital Event. In it, they revealed many interesting things, not the least of which is that every single character from every past Smash Bros games was going to be in Ultimate. This included the return of characters like the Icer Climbers, Pichu, Pokemon Trainer, Solid Snake, Bayonetta, Ryu, Roy, Cloud, and more. In total, including the previously announced Inkling from Splatoon, the roster is at 65 characters.
But that wasn’t all they revealed. Sakurai hosted the entire segment and showed that just about every character has gotten a change or two. Some of them are physical changes, including Link looking like the version from Breath of the Wild, while Zelda now looks like her form from the 3DS game A Link Between Worlds. Other characters have gotten move changes, including Ganondorf finally using that sword of his, Fox and Falco using Arwings as their Final Smash, Palutena getting a reflector with her Counter move, and more.
Finally, Sakurai ended the show with the reveal that Ridley from Metroid was going to join Smash Bros. This character has been asked for for years now, and the cries of the fans could be heard from across the world when he was revealed.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate arrives on Switch on December 7th.
