As we approach E3 2018, there are a LOT of games that gamers are looking forward to both seeing, and get more info about. Without a doubt one of the biggest ones though is Super Smash Bros for Switch. This game shocked the world when it was revealed at the last Nintendo Direct, but since then, Nintendo has been very quiet about the game. There’s even some confusion over whether it’s a new game or a port of the Wii U Smash Bros title. Well, now, we have a potential leak, and it seems to indicate many things.
The leak comes from Vergeben on GameFAQs. Now, it should be noted that some of his leaks have been credible in the past, including calling the TMNT arrival in Injustice 2 and calling the arrival of Soul Calibur VI.
So, what’s he saying? Well, first and foremost, Super Smash Bros for Switch is a sequel, not a port. Though he did mention that some assets would get reused to an extent, which makes sense when you think about it.
Now, as for characters, Vergeben says that there will not be any cuts on the rosters from Smash Bros Wii U to Smash Bros Switch. This would be the first time since Melee that this has happened.
As for new characters, Vergeben says that longtime desire Ridley from the Metroid series will finally make his debut in the game. But wait, there’s more, apparently, Konami is going to through a character into the mix. But not Solid Snake like in Brawl, but rather, Simon Belmont from the Castlevania series.
So if this is true, that’s a major 1st party and 3rd party character already confirmed for the game, add to that the Inklings from Splatoon and that’s three new characters already. We’ll just have to see if this leak holds up once E3 rolls around.
