Injustice 2 is getting a lot of praise from fans and critics, and it’s clear that NetherRealms Studios, the team behind the game, wants to support this title for quite some time. Because of that, the team teased the first three DLC fighters that would be coming to the game. The first two were Starfire and Red Hood from DC Comics, but the third was Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. While this might be surprising, remember, NetherRealm Studios is the team behind the Mortal Kombat series. Also, they put Scorpion in the original Injustice title, and it was their most downloaded DLC character.
So for them to bring the other fan-favorite ninja from their fan-favorite series? Yeah, not that big of a stretch. And despite what you might think, Sub-Zero actually works well in Injustice 2, as his debut trailer reveals. Now, there may be some concern that Sub-Zero is a clone character of Captain Cold, who also makes his debut in Injustice 2, but put your mind at ease, these two are nothing alike outside of a love of ice.
While Captain Cold uses an ice gun to do his dirty work, Sub-Zero uses his natural cryomancy abilities mixed with his martial arts mastery to get the job done. In fact, Mortal Kombat fans will notice that much of his move set from those games have made it into Injustice 2.
Sub-Zero can create ice weapons like swords and daggers to rip through his enemies, he can use ice to slide on the ground, and even create his ice duplicates to take his and free enemies on contact. No matter what game he’s in, Sub-Zero is one ice cold fighter.
And in true epic fashion, his Super Move has him dishing out ice damage in numerous ways as he teleports around the arena. And his ending scene even has him doing his legendary Fatality from Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero will join the game in July according to the trailer.
