Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones is an old-school RPG which explores a world of HP Lovecraft horrors. Basically, we can expect to see a lot of insanity in this game, and from what we’ve seen, the story will be rather fascinating.
The story trailer for Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones sets the atmosphere pretty nicely, but how does the game look like? Well, it is a 2D title that has turn-based combat. The combat probably won’t be the selling point of this game, but still, we expect it to be up to par. As we expected, Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones has a Sanity system which will affect how your character deals with all of the horrors that he’s going to come face to face with. HP Lovecraft is famous for his psychological and cosmic horrors, and how they drive people insane, so we can’t wait to see just what kind of monstrosities we will get to see in this game.
The game has a demo available on Steam so you can go and check that out, even though it doesn’t have much in terms of content, it should give you an idea of how this horror RPG is going to look like. We have everything from strange companions, dark magic, and a world where everyone is mad to look forward to.
We quite like the fact that the world is already lost. You can’t save it, so you’re free to roam the lands and pursue your own goals, whatever they may be.
