Steam Was Blocked in Malaysia

From year to year, more and more games appear on Steam, and because of this, it is inevitable that eventually, someone gets upset with a game. This was exactly what happened last week when several Malaysian religious leaders expressed their disapproval of a freshly published game. The drastic step occurred because of Fight of Gods, a game in which we can fight against each other as gods of different religions.

Fight of Gods is a 2D fighting game in which we can play as key figures of different religions, and we can find Jesus, Buddha, and Odin among the optional characters. According to the Malays, the game promotes aggression and violence between religions, and they can not agree with that message in any way. Their appeal was found legitimate by the government, so they called on Steam to remove Fight of Gods from their Malaysian product list within a day. After this did not happen, the government reacted accordingly. Local players will still have access to their already purchased titles, but they cannot buy new games in the store.

Valve issued a notice shortly after the ban came into effect, stating that they know about the situation and are currently working on a solution.
