Stardew Valley Creator Talks Bringing The Game To Switch
One of the beautiful things about video games is that sometimes the most simplistic and elegant of titles can be the most impactful, which is exactly what Stardew Valley is. The game is a farming simulator, albeit one with a lot of depth and style. Ever since its release it’s gotten a lot of props and buzz from critics, gamers, and more. Then, it came out on Nintendo Switch, and has gotten a lot more people playing it. So much so, that the creator wanted to say a few words to the Nintendo audience.
“Six years ago, I began working on a simple farming game as a project to improve my programming skills. Over time, the scope of the project grew and grew until it had become something bigger than I ever imagined… Though I was proud of what I had created, I never dreamed the game would become so popular and make so many people happy. Having grown up as a huge Nintendo fan, seeing my game on the Nintendo Switch feels surreal but also brings me a lot of joy.”
Oh, but it wasn’t just the joy of being on a Nintendo system that made ConcernedApe happy, he also got to meet some cool people on the Nintendo side of the world:
Because of the success of Stardew Valley, I even had the opportunity to meet Mr. Yasuhiro Wada, the creator of the early Harvest Moon games. It was those early Harvest Moon experiences on the Super Nintendo that inspired me to create Stardew Valley, so being able to meet the mind behind the game was incredible (and he was even so kind as to sign by SNES Harvest Moon cartridge)!
I’m still very excited about Stardew Valley and what its future holds. With the upcoming multiplayer update there is so much life left in the valley… and Nintendo Switch is truly a perfect home for the game.
The game is available now on the Switch, don’t miss out!
