What the future holds for the next Star Wars game remains to be seen, though EA has given us an idea of what to expect where Respawn is concerned, as well as what’s in store for the Battlefront series.
At the Q3 2018 earnings call, EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson and CFO Blake Jorgensen discussed what the future of the company is from a Star Wars perspective, with Jorgensen stated that EA hasn’t announced our products for fiscal [year 2020] yet,” but Respawn’s to be announced title is title “most likely will drop in Fiscal 20 versus another [Star Wars] Battlefront.”
The fiscal year for 2020 will get underway on April 1st, 2019, and finish on March 31st, 2020. It doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s an indication of when Respawn’s title will be released, though it does give a projected timeframe.
As for Battlefront, Jorgensen revealed that EA has not hasn’t “decided timing for the next Battlefront yet,” so it seems that they are going forward with the franchise, despite the rocky road that Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been trailing, with all of the controversies surrounding microtransactions, leading to backlash from fans.
