Star Wars Battlefront II Reveals Key Plot Point For The Last Jedi

When Star Wars Battlefront II was revealed, one of the biggest things that fans wanted was not just a story mode, which the original game didn’t have, but one that had meaning. At first, the game’s story was advertised as one that would tell things from the “enemy point of view”, as we were going to be playing as a member of the Inferno Squad, a group loyal to the Empire and the Emperor. But, then, character Iden Versio would join up with the Rebel Alliance and then the Resistance to stop the Empire and the First Order.

Though not the best storyline in many gamers eyes, the real question was about how it would connect with the films. And with the release of The Last Jedi, we now know that a key mission in the game had a big impact. In the game, you meet up with certain key Star Wars characters, including Luke Skywalker. There’s one mission on a planet called Pillio, where Luke and an Imperial officer are forced to work together to go to an observatory that was owned by the Emperor.

After the mission is complete, Luke is allowed to take a compass. Harmless right? Well…

In The Last Jedi, Luke exiles himself to the island where the first Jedi temple was, Ach-To. However, no one knew where the temple was, so, how did Luke find it? Answer: the compass. This was confirmed by Slashfilm, who revealed that a deleted scene in The Last Jedi had Luke talking about the compass, and how it was so attuned with The Force that it led him to the temple on Ach-To. Obviously, it made the cutting room floor, but it’s really cool nonetheless.

So, while Star Wars Battlefront II isn’t the best game, and will forever be mired in controversy, it can have the honor of fleshing out a key part of The Last Jedi, and that’s a pretty cool honor.
