Star Trek Online Brings DS9 Back Via “Victory Is Life”
Star Trek Online has had a long and healthy life as an MMORPG, and has brought many classic Star Trek characters into the fold in order to prove its loyalty to the franchise that it clearly loves. And now, a new expansion has arrived in the form of “Victory Is Life”. This expansion brings back one of the classic locations of Star Trek lore, Deep Space Nine, but in the process, brings a new threat to the table that all must unite against.
A trailer for the expansion shows just how deep this expansion goes, bringing in several classic Deep Space Nine characters into the fold to help sell the storyline, including having it narrated by René Auberjonois, aka the shape-shifter known as Odo.
“We couldn’t think of a better way of celebrating Deep Space Nine, than resurrecting the characters so many fans adored and reuniting this special cast in Star Trek Online,” said Stephen Ricossa, executive producer for Star Trek Online in a press release when the expansion was announced. “Our new expansion pays tribute to the television series that boldly explored important social issues and left a lasting impact on an entire generation of Star Trek fans.”
In “Victory is Life”, players will head to the gamma quadrant and find the remains of Deep Space Nine, and in the process, they’ll learn about a new enemy within the Gamma Quadrant known as Hur’q. Players will have to band together to fight them off and save the system, or fall.
Victory Is Life doesn’t just bring back the actor behind Odo, but 12 more actors filling out key roles from the series, including the original actors and actresses behind characters like Kira Nerys, Julian Bashir, Quark, Rom, Nog, and more.
The Victory Is Life expansion is out now, live long and prosper.
