If you haven’t heard of the game Star Citizen, don’t be mad, it’s a title that’s been in the works for some time, has no clear release date, and is a sci-fi space exploration and adventure title. However, it’s also a title that has raised a lot of crowdfunding money, and it continues to do so. In fact, in 2017 alone, it raised over $34 million dollars, in just one year! People seem to be drawn to this game for one reason or another. Yet, I think there is going to be a hard line with a new DLC pack that has been revealed.
For those who haven’t done it yet, Star Citizen allows you to pledge to its development and get something in return when the game is done. But now, they’ve revealed that there is going to be a $27,000 DLC pack. Yes, you read that right, $27,000 to get this DLC. It’s called the Legatus pack.
Now, you might be thinking, “What on Earth could be worth that much money in a single game?” Well, the Legatus Pack gives you 117 ships for you to use and do with as you will. That’s pretty much every ship in the game, which is no doubt why the price is so high. Also through in are 163 random items like skins, equipment, fuel pods, the works. Needless to say, this is a very odd DLC pack to have, and clearly only meant for the VERY dedicated members of the Star Citizen fanbase. But hey, you know there are some big wallet types out there, how else would they have gotten over 34 million raised last year?
The real question is though, will there be more DLC packs like this in the future? Time will tell.
