Spellbreak is probably the only battle royale title that looks somewhat interesting, as it has magic instead of guns.
Spellbreak is a battle royal game but instead of guns, you can hurl fireballs at people. We aren’t a huge fan of fireballs, but we also saw someone call down lightning on a guy. That, that is something that we were looking for. Could this be one of the few battle royale games that comes up with innovative and new gameplay while not screwing up other aspects of the game? Perhaps, we just want to get an invite to the pre-alpha as Spellbreak looks like a lot of fun.
Oh, you can shoot people with assault rifles in Black Ops 4? Well, in Spellbreak you can shoot people with ice arrows. Or at least that’s what they looked like to us in the trailer that we saw. Also props to RockPaperShotgun for finding out about the game.
Even the pre-alpha footage of this game looks way more fun than any other battle royale shooter that we saw come out in the past year, and that’s why it got us so excited. Intense fights between magic users can’t be seen in many games, but this one is pulling it off excellently.
In Spellbreak, you get to pick your class of choice. There are 11 of them, and most of them focus on a single element like fire, lightning, earth, poison, and so on. The graphics look slick, but the effects of the magic take the cake. Everything is so vibrant and mesmerizing to look at. Currently, there’s a way to enter the pre-alpha and that’s by buying an expensive Limited Edition Funder pack.
We won’t be doing that, but we’re definitely going to keep an eye out for this game. A battle royale with wizards sounds like the perfect combination that we were looking for.
