A tale of swords and souls continues to be unveiled, as Bandai Namco is slowly but surely filling out the roster to their anticipated fighting game title Soul Calibur VI. The game is set to be something special for sure, mixing old and new characters and taking the game back to its origins to tell a more detailed story of how things actually began. And now, another returning veteran has been revealed, and it’s one that’ll get certain fans excited.
Returning veteran Maxi has been revealed in a new trailer, and he’s bringing not just his swashbuckling style, but his classic Nunchuk weapon to the mix, ensuring that Soul Calibur VI has a vast array of weapons and styles for players to use and test out.
“Prepare for the return of Maxi in SOULCALIBUR VI! Armed with his treasured Fatibal, he unleashes the powerful Shissen Karihadi fighting style! Will you be able to withstand his unending flurry of strikes?”
As you might expect, Maxi’s fighting style is up close and personal, using his Nunchuk for quick, rapid strikes, as well as using them to grab onto his opponents for brutal throws of combos. If you prefer to get up in your opponents face and wail on them, then Maxi might just be your guy.
With Maxi now in the roster, the Soul Calibur VI roster is now at 13. He joins Geralt of Rivera from The Witcher franchise, new character Grøh, and returning veterans Ivy, Kilik, Mitsurugi Nightmare Siegfried Schtauffen, Sophitia, Taki, Xianghua, Yoshimitsu and Zasalamel.
There’s still no release date for the game, nor is there any indication as to how big the roster might be. The release window in the trailer is still slated as “2018”, and since it’s only June, that gives them 6-7 months to keep teasing things out.
