Sony Believes That Fortnite Is Best Played On Their System

Cross-Play between gaming consoles was long thought of as impossible. But with the advancement of technology and the drive of creators like the teams at Psyonix and Mojang, Cross-Play is now very real, and games are starting to incorporate it more and more. But there is one platform that is a bit of a holdout, the PS4. Now, while some PS4 games have Cross-Play with PC and mobile devices at times, they won’t Cross-Play with Xbox One or Nintendo. Why? Because they believe they have the best console to play games on, especially with Fortnite.

And this isn’t vanity from me, this comes right from Kenichiro Yoshida, the CEO of Sony Corporation. Who was at a technology conference and noted this:

“On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play,” Yoshida said. “Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief.”

No matter what way you slice it, that’s a pretty arrogant statement, and completely missing the point of what Cross-Play can do for games and systems, including the PS4. It’s not about “what plays what best”, it’s about playing together no matter what system you have.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time that Sony has made comments like this, they did it earlier in the year too:

“With 79 million PS4s sold around the world and more than 80 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network, we’ve built a huge community of gamers who can play together on Fortniteand all online titles,” Sony said. “We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the opportunity for Fortnite fans on PS4 to play with even more gamers on other platforms.”

Fans won’t give up though, they want to see Fortnite be Cross-Playable on all platforms, no matter how hard Sony wants to resist them.
