We have recently seen a report from Xbox Games Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg regarding Sea of Thieves, where he teased new information regarding Rare’s seafaring adventure is to be revealed at The Game Awards.
Now, we have heard further correspondence from Executive Producer Joe Neate, who mentions during a new insider post that an announcement regarding the release date will be coming “soon.”
He even tweeted the following to add further hype: “Not only #SeaOfThieves news coming at the game awards, but possibly the best confused creature cameo of all time. Get your gif game ready. Five more sleeps…”

Neate also mentions that the announcement will be accompanied by a short yet fun new trailer that shows off his “favourite funny moments in one of our trailers for quite a while.”
There will also be a new play session at some point in December, which will bring plenty of new features for players to try out. The team are looking for feedback as soon as possible too, so they can fix anything needing to be fixed, rather than leaving it until the last minute.
Sea of Thieves is expected to release in 2018, launching on Xbox One and Windows PC at some point next year.
