Sea of Thieves’ Brig System Might Be Being Abused by Players

Sea of Thieves has a rather unique way of dealing with unwanted players in your party. Whilst it might seem authentic and whimsical to be able to put players in the brig, it’s also being abused by many.

The pirate simulator sees players matchmaking a crew together of four players, which in theory is a great practice, though if you don’t have any friends online. Unfortunately, this means that you have to deal with someone you may not know, or ones that don’t particularly want to play with you. So if you’re going into a four-player game as a single player, it means that you could end up spending a lengthy period in the brig.

Players have to work together in Sea of Thieves to make sure that everything runs smoothly on the ship. This is why the brig system was implemented, so those who aren’t willing to play ball can be punished. The cell can’t be broken out of, and you are in there for any period of time, so you won’t be automatically freed.

You can still leave the game and head back to matchmaking, so it’s not really that big of an issue. Not to mention, it is a pretty neat way of putting an unwanted player away, but you can also see why players might become frustrated.

Sea of Thieves is set for release on March 20th on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
